Yes in that case it is a known limitation or better said it cannot be done in
another way. In KDE 4.4 there is a new kcm for configuring alt+tab which will
deactivate all options including the effects for alt+tab and give a
notification why it is disabled. I think it is a good idea to give the same
information in the desktop effects kcm, by that adjusting title and making it a
wish.
