Makes me /believe/ this is some memory corruption / shadowing (probaly
upstream?)
unfortunately i don't know enough about the internals of systemsettings' plugin
system or ld internal tricks to judge this.

Do you compile yourself?
In case you could add debug outputs after creating the context and before
destroying it to watch the pointed memory (mGLContext,
kdebase/kwin/compositingprefs.cpp, lines 197 & 226) whenever those incidents
take place...
