Martin,
This did work, until I logged back into my system. At which point, kwin is
again disabled... :(

I understand that Lucas, but there is not any way to guess given the
requirements of the graphics settings ("texture_from_pixmap isn't available"
"compositing not enabled" etc)
I know that this is a different issue, but it would be nice :)
