I understand you view; however, for my uses, nouveau does work (and nv did
before that, though with fewer effects). I don't use the "fancy" effects that
are touted all the time in reviews and whatnot. Even with the Intel machine and
OpenGL, I only have a few more effects enabled (mainly transparency and sliding
when switching desktops) and using it over VNC sort of negates most of the
smooth animations anyways.

The blob is an absolute pain for me to track on the laptop. It being a kernel
module, has to match the kernel itself, which RPMFusion is a little behind with
and I up to rawhide with this machine very early, maybe a month or two before
the planned release, where it's even worse with many new kernel builds a week.
I don't expect RPMFusion to track the kernel that closely. This makes using the
blob sort of untenable in the long run (even if all I had was nv, maybe even
vesa provided it supported the correct resolution). When it was my main machine
sure, but the desktop has gotten that job and this is a testbed machine for the
most part.

That said, hopefully someone will have such a setup on the ML who can test as
well.
