I had some problems to reproduce. When I set opacity to 0 % I do not see
anything except cube caps. So no desktop and no apps, which is the expected
behaviour. Actually I'm thinking about of not allowing 0 % in the UI. It does
not make sense.

When I set opacity to 100 % I see desktop and apps fully opaque.

I have an idea why it looks different on your system. What's the vendor of your
graphics card? Mine is nVidia.
