Summary: Desktop size breaks when X is configured is a second
screen (no xinerama)
Product: kwin
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kwin kde org
ReportedBy: matthew.schnee gmail com
Version: (using KDE 4.0.98)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
KDE4.1RC1
Description of Setup:
Two video cards, three monitors. Two monitors are configured in X with Twinview, the \
third was now enabled in xorg.conf. Under this configuration, the two primary \
display monitors work as expected, desktop resolution is 3200x1200. Kwin recognizes \
the two monitors and can configure destkop settings for each independantly.
Adding a second "screen" to the xorg.conf for the second card and third monitor \
breaks this. Xinerama is not used (breaks composite extensions and is unnecessary), \
as this window is used primarily to display information for debugging a server \
enviroment (think tail and awk on multiple files and device nodes).
This setup breaks the desktops. The desktop widget itself is confined to what \
appears to be an 800x600 area on the first (left) monitor. Windows can be created \
and moved in the rest of the area on the primary displays, however the "blank area" \
does not accept and mouse inputs. It is, in effect, empty space.
