comment #46 Ok that is a more positive attitude. When you (all) come out and say that \
a frame must be introduced then for sure we put our foot down. This doesn't mean we \
don't recognize that there is a problem.
Pinheiro have already commented about coloring the buttons. Pinheiro and I have also \
discussed making the icon of inactive windows grayscale, and making the \
active/inactive differencebigger on the dividing line.
But we don't have many options, though similar suggestions are naturally welcome \
Coloring a frame (even with a gradient) is not an option.
DimInactive is indeed not an option for default. Besides requiring composite it also \
dims images and movies indescriminately, which is not that nice if you are working \
with graphics.
Coloring whole windows doesn't require composite, but yes it was ruled out as default \
because some people thinks it flickers too much. Our "oxygen" vision for this whole \
windows coloring was always a very subtle (almost below visible) effect, that your \
subconsience would use to pick out the active window. I use it and find it very nice \
and nonflickering. But, sure, I accept that people are different. \
