(very wide xterms/konsole, etc) Product: kwin Version: 3.0 Platform: Compiled Sources OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kwin kde org ReportedBy: hlein progressive-comp com Version: 3.0 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7) Installed from: Compiled From Sources OS: Linux Perhaps this is possible and I just can't find it: can I have windows span pager'ed desktops? I typically have several very wide (400+ characters) terminal windows open with tail -f's of Apache logs, syslogs, etc. With a 1600x1200 display and 7x13 font size, that means the windows are about two full screen-widths wide. With fvwm for instance this is no problem, because the desktops are all one virtual contiguous space, and windows can easily span multiple desktops; you page to the one you want. In kwin it seems that the desktops are all discrete, and can't share; if you slide a window partway off the right side of a desktop, that part isn't visible in any other desktop. I really miss this feature in kwin; am I just not finding it? Fvwm also allows fine-grained sliding of your viewer window; you can shift in any direction by just a hundred pixels or so at a time--this would be nice too but not as important. I've seen people ask similar questions in the past on mailing lists, etc; the responses given were about Desktop->Window Behavior->Advanced->Active Desktop Borders (which doesn't do what I'm talking about AFAICS), or setting up a larger Virtual screen in the X server config, which is just an awful approach. _______________________________________________ Kwin mailing list Kwin@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kwin
