With acceleration X can do anything, mvoe windows very smoothly , be very responsive, etc. Anythng OSX or Longhorn and XP can do with the interface so ca X with OpenGL accelearation and it would actually take up less CPU time on a decent computer with a 32 MB+ graphics card to have shadows, translucency and the likes enabled than X currently is.
