Thanks.   So my next question is... What is missing?   VS does indeed
support direct HTTP from other GPRS devices from their network.   Is this
something specific to the Blackberries?

Hi Don,

A gateway is required for the BlackBerry 5810 on GPRS
networks. Here's an excerpt from a knowledge base
article on www.blackberry.net/developers:

"Sending and receiving data over a direct HTTP
connection on a BlackBerry handheld is not yet
supported on GPRS networks... HTTP connections can be
established through a WAP gateway operating on the
GPRS network, but this must be configured through the
network carrier at this time."

Looks like you'll need to use a WAP gateway for now.
