Steve, look in your /tmp/kde-username for a "random-filename.tar.gz" with 1.4GB and decompress it to the kstars directory: $HOME/.kde4/share/apps/kstars/ if the file in the /tmp directory is corrupt you could download the data it from the kde-server. cd $HOME/.kde4/share/apps/kstars/ wget http://download.kde.org/apps/kstars/USNO-NOMAD-1e8-1.0.tar.gz tar xvzf USNO-NOMAD-1e8-1.0.tar.gz this should end in a file called USNO-NOMAD-1e8.dat in the kstars directory. go to kstars preferences and set "star-catalogs->star-density" to a level you prefer. * *you're done. :) hth, jeamy > Akarsh and Jason, > > Under most recent 1.5.3 version of kstars, the USNO NOMAD datafile could not > be loaded.
