I disagree.  We do, in fact, have some themes that use avatars bigger than 
that, and which can take advantage of full-size icons.  (They are not shipped 
with Kopete directly, but are available from GHNS.  One example is the 
"Glossyk 4" theme.)

IMO we should not be scaling needlessly, in either direction.
