QTabWidget in Qt 4 already provides vertical tabs, so this is just for the KDE 
3 series, hence the reason I'm asking for feedback since it's only been 
implemented at the request of somebody else for their distribution.

it's not implemented only because I haven't written it yet. I have every 
intention on making it work both ways, I just haven't done so yet.

that's done with kmultitabbar, which I didn't want to use due to it's weird, 
and nearly unusable API.
