It is possible to export them to address book. Then, the all contacts of one 
metacontact are together at the one person. (File->Export Contacts)

However, I did no find a way to import them back. But it is one possibility 
for a total crash or whatever, when they are deleted from server... - you can 
put them back manually, if it comes to worst.
