I can also confirm this behavour on Gentoo Linux with Kopete 0.10.2

Attempting to talk to users who use the official Google talk client results in them being disconnected. It does appear to be a problem with the typing notification as they are often disconnected merely by typing to them. Afterwards the effect seems to be somewhat sporadic with messages randomly getting through as the user is randomly disconnected as you further attempt to talk to them.
