I've tried ICQ pro and Yahoo! messager.

ICQ has some constraints that I can't reach the limit, and it has some encoding \
problem if I use non-ASCII characters.

Yahoo! messager's default nickname appears to be (always) the ID, and the user can \
only change his/her friends' name in the contact list locally.

So there's no answer to it. :(
Sorry but I don't know how to test other messengers...

(well, how about a `fake_messenger` plugin for testing :P)
