Please upgrade to a newer Kopete version. Even if you can avoid the crash Kopete can't possibly work with MSN because Microsoft changed the protocol in October last year.

You need at least Kopete 0.7.4 and you are strongly advised to use 0.7.5 or, even better, the upcoming 0.8 that will be both available as a part of KDE 3.2 and as a separate release for KDE 3.1.x.
