Changing character set does not work. I get the error as soon as I connct.

Furthermore the user should be given a hint. Especially since XML is used in the IRC \
protocol.m The error message says "internal error", a phrase typically meaning "oops, \
programmer forgot to check something".

Kopete could use the error message from the XML parser as a way of detecting the \
character set by trying another. 1. UTF-8, easy to detect usually as we have seen
2. The user's desktop setting
3. ISOLatin1.

In any case, an error in handling the characters should be displayed to the user in a \
