no!
that's possible in 4 month

count how much BC incompatible was done since 0.7 begin of the feature frezee:
-the idle stuff 
-your now config stuff  

you also changed the account::password syntax (and i disagree with this 
change)

stay to do the KAB integration and the invitation things.

we are about to be ready to maintain BC

also, will KDE release KDE 3.3?  i doubt it.

so Kopete 2.0 in KDE 4.0 will automaticaly break the BC and that's not a 
problem

Kopete 1.x will not have a long live to maintain BC. and since it's in KDE 
3.2.x , that mean we are in features frezee.
so i realy don't see the problem.
