Yes, this is a known problem (to me at least). I need to find a more    
efficient way to find the default gateway than parsing the output of netstat. 
I think this is possible via sockets, but I'll need to do some research there. 
    
I'll hopefully have a fix in CVS soon... until then, a nasty work around would 
be to change line 22 in 
kopete/plugins/connectionstatus/connectionstatusplugin.cpp from: 
 
qtTimer->start(2500); 
 
to something like: 
 
qtTimer->start(25000); 
 
(e.g. check the default gateway ever 25 seconds rather than 2.5) 
 
or disable the plugin. Sorry for any inconvenience.
