Message-Id: <50A7ACE4.1090801 () gmail ! com> X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=konsole-devel&m=135316608321148 I would propose removing the --background-mode feature from konsole, because it was and is still a very hacky and immature feature even after it has been added for 4 years. Its problems: 1. it only works for the very first window. The global shortcut only toggles the visibility of the very first window. 2. it doesn't remember and restore the position of the first window 3, it has never been further polished or developed after it was added. Another strong proof is there are only 2 related reports about that option on bugs.kde.org : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258850 it is for a strange and unreproduciable startup warning message, not directly related with this --background-mode feature itself. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94348 That is why this --background-mode option was introduced. See comment #3. A feature receiving almost zero bug reports is either perfect, or is something nobody uses . Based upon my above observation of its problems, I really think the latter explanation looks more convincing. All in all, I feel that option is more like a trick or demonstration of "we can also do what yakuake does. well, kind of", other than a well-designed and mature feature. Although I have not got any statistics, I really doubt how many users really like, use or even know about that feature. Any idea ?
