I also must use gnome-terminal :(. I can't use konsole since it does 
not understand deadkeys. For example, instead of showing "é" (the 
accented E letter) it shows "'e" (a single quote and the E letter).

My sistem is a Red Hat 7.2 standard with updates applied and KDE 2.2.2 
installed from RH-provided rpms.
