I just removed the Palatino TTF and it worked fine.

All I did is edit the fonts.dir file found in 
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont

I remove all the lines starting by pal... and updated the number on the top 
(number of lines in the file -2).

And it worked.

I imagine the problem can come from another TTF for other people but the 
solution is to destroy the bad font.

maybe kword should be able to discover bad fonts itself as drakfont does.
