            Bug ID: 339694
Summary: Option to disable auto-focusing the location bar on
                    about:blank page
           Product: konqueror
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: konq-bugs@kde.org
          Reporter: jv.me1on@gmail.com

Currently, when clicking on any tab with the "about:blank" page loaded, focus
is automatically given to the location bar. It would be nice to have an option
to disable this.

Reason:

I, and some others, like to have my Konqueror shortcuts mimic vim's
keybindings. For example, "u" for undo close tab, "gt" to go to the next tab,
"gT" to go to the previous tab, "o" to open a new page (i.e. focus the location
bar), and so forth.

These shortcuts work great normally, but since "about:blank" pages auto-focus
the location bar, I have to click on the blank page before I can use any of
them. For example, if I am cycling through tabs with "gt", then each time an
empty tab is reached I have to click on the page in order to hit "gt" again to
cycle to the next tab.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
To see why this would be a nice feature, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings -> Configure shortcuts, then add "gt" as an alternate
shortcut for "Activate next tab", and "gT" as an alternate shortcut for
"Activate previous tab". These are just example shortcuts - the issue arises
with any shortcut that doesn't use Ctrl, Meta, Alt, etc.

2. Get some tabs open, some with pages loaded, and at least one blank tab.

3. Cycle through the tabs using your new shortcuts "gt" and "gT". Each time you
reach a blank tab, you have to unfocus the location bar in order to keep using
your shortcuts.

Actual Results:
Location bar is automatically focused.

Expected Results:
Ideally, there would be a setting to disable this.

Other browsers need extra extensions in order to mimic Vim's keybindings (see
"Vimperator" and "Pentadactyl" for Firefox, "Vimium" for Chrome, etc).
Konqueror can do this all out-of-the-box with the "Configure shortcuts" dialog
- this is the only issue that prevents a nice "vimified" Konqueror. :)
