Summary: Connection to Server Closed Unexpectedly while using
Konqueror with Privoxy
Product: konqueror
Version: unspecified
Platform: Debian unstable
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: konq-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: Martin@Lichtvoll.de
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux
When using konqueror with a privoxy 3.0.17, with mostly unchanged configuration
on port 8118 when requesting a page I often get Connection to Server Closed
Unexpectedly.
Reloading the page sometimes helps, sometimes I get the same error message even
after several reloaded.
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
- apt-get install privoxy
- configure konqueror to use localhost:8118 as proxy
- access web pages from Konqueror or Akregator
Actual Results:
"The requested operation could not be completed
Connection to Server Closed Unexpectedly
Details of the Request:
URL: http://www.amiga-news.de
Protocol: http
Date and Time: Thursday 28 April 2011 10:46
Additional Information: www.amiga-news.de
Description:
Although a connection was established to www.amiga-news.de, the connection was
closed at an unexpected point in the communication.
Possible Causes:
There may have been a problem with your network connection.
There may have been a problem at some point along the network path between the
server and this computer.
A protocol error may have occurred, causing the server to close the connection
as a response to the error.
Possible Solutions:
Try again, either now or at a later time.
Contact the administrator of the server for further assistance.
Contact your appropriate computer support system, whether the system
administrator, or technical support group for further assistance."
Expected Results:
Konqueror loads webpage through privoxy.
Privoxy is listening on port 8118. I set localhost:8118 for all protocols as
proxy in Konqueror.
shambhala:~> netstat -tulpen | grep privoxy
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:8118 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
104 2776794 25071/privoxy
And its responding to requests as well:
shambhala:~> telnet localhost 8118
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to shambhala.
Escape character is '^]'.
^C^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.
shambhala:~> telnet localhost 8118
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to shambhala.
Escape character is '^]'.
^[^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.
shambhala:~> telnet localhost 8118
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to shambhala.
Escape character is '^]'.
^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.
Using Konqueror without proxy works okay.
I never had this problem with Konqueror from KDE 3.5 and earlier. But I have it
since I switched to KDE 4, that was with KDE 4.2. It seems to happen more often
after I upgraded from KDE 4.6.0 to 4.6.2 beginning of this week, but thats just
a subjective impression right now.
