Here's what I'm experiencing -- perhaps it's related to this bug. I have saved
my File Management view profile to hide the navigation panel. From a command
line:

> konqueror --profile filemanagement

produces a filemanagement window with the nav. panel hidden, as expected.
However, without making any changes to the view profile, issuing the command:

> kfmclient openProfile filemanagement

opens a konqueror filemanagement window with the nav. panel shown -- not the
expected behavior.

Wait there's more! From the konqueror window launched by kfmclient, I choose
Settings-> Load View Profile-> Web Browsing, and the window is changed to a web
browser. Then in the same window, Settings-> Load View Profile-> File
Management, and the window is changed to the file management with the nav.
panel hidden which is how it was saved in the file management profile.

I then quit that instance of konqueror, and relaunch from the command line
using kfmclient; result: the file management profile with the nav. panel
hidden.

It's as if kfmclient is reading the view profiles from a different place; and
as if that place isn't updated unless you manually re-load the view profile
from konqueror's settings menu. Maybe I'm mis-understanding how kfmclient
works.

In ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/profiles I only have "filemanagement" and
"webbrowsing"

There is no /usr/share/apps/konqueror/profiles directory.

version: 4.3.1 using KDE 4.3.2
