Summary: Wrong default user agent string in Konqueror with
webkit-kde kpart
Product: konqueror
Version: 4.2.4
Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: konq-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sterling.winter@gmail.com
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
Compiler: gcc-4.3
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
When using Konqueror 4.2.4 with the WebKit kpart from SVN, "KHTML" is still
present in the default user agent string instead of "WebKit".
Steps to reproduce:
1. Build webkit-kde from SVN and re-compile Konqueror (i.e. kdebase and
konq-plugins) against it.
2. Go to System Settings --> Advanced --> File Associations, expand the
text/html node, select the Embedding tab, and move "WebKit (webkitpart)" to the
top and click Apply.
3. Launch Konqueror and make sure Tools --> Change Browser Identification is
set to "Default Identification".
4. Visit a website which echoes back your browser's user agent string (e.g.
http://www.microsystools.com/services/http-user-agent/ ).
Expected user agent string would be something like:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.2; Linux; X11; en-US, en) WebKit/4.2.4
(like Gecko)
Observed user agent string is:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.2; Linux; X11; en-US, en) KHTML/4.2.4
(like Gecko)
