I got this as an out-of-bugzilla email reply:

Hello!

at the moment I use KDE 3.5.9 release 49.1 and it did not
happen again!I used to always install the newest files via
smart, but this time I choose not to use smart for updates and
stuck with yast. Most likely this is the reason why it still
works. I think, smart used files from some repository that
were experimental.
