           Summary: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=19
8604 | Speechy slideshow (timed display to embedded
                    audio) fails
           Product: konqueror
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: kjs
        AssignedTo: konq-bugs@kde.org
        ReportedBy: rdm@docreate.net

Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
Compiler: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

There's something odd going on with Konqueror's JavaScript handling. The F/OSS
package available at
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=198604 (Speechy) stopped
working in Konqueror.

Earlier in the day it worked and I could watch and listen to the demo
Slidy/Speechy "Managament Joke" in both FireFox and Konqueror. Now though, the
time slide progression does not occur in Konqueror. One minute it was working
in Konqueror and now it's not. I just don't get it.

I checked the files I'd downloaded in FireFox and everything worked as
expected. Maybe the JavaScript error handling (and the non-caching
configuration I have in Konqueror) catching onto three JavaScript code errors
reported by Konqueror JavaScript engine (when error reporting is enabled).

Maybe it's to do with the Xine plugin. I tried the Ogg format of the
presentation and it worked so I stopped it half-way through. After that the
embedded plugin window was not hidden anymore and the slides didn't change
however many seconds into the audio time got.

I guess until this is fixed in KDE4 I'll use FireFox as a workaround because
Speechy has a lot of use for me.

It seems there are three bugs in the Speechy JavaScript causing the
presentation (and audio) not to work in Konqueror when debugging and JavaScript
error messages are checked in the tab dialog of the Konqueror menu:

Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Java & JavaScript -> JavaScript.

The JavaScript errors are not handled gracefully. With both 'Report Errors' and
'Enable Debugger' unchecked the Speechy demo
"Genie/Project Manager Joke" worked in Konqueror like FireFox. Unfortunately at
some point that stopped without obvious cause.
