Yes, there is SOCKS support. On paper.
But it does not work. (See also bugs #142183 and #147340).
And it does not provide an understandable way to configure it
(This bug/wish asked for a "spot to enter the socks host IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1080 in \
the same way IE and Netscape do". And because this spot is still missing, "poor man's \
SOCKS proxy" provided by "ssh -D" portforwarding is impossible... I'm tempted to \
re-open it, because I can't see where/how it is fixed.) \
