I have exacly the same problem...on the same distribution...the problem occurs if i \
browse one folder that holds some .tar.gz, zip, etc... files  if i launch konq from \
shell the error reported is:

konqueror: art_render_gradient.c:338: art_render_gradient_linear_render_8: Asserzione \
                `offset_fraction <= stops[ix].offset' fallita.
KCrash: crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = konqueror path = <unknown> pid = 27380
