I also have this problem on my thinkpad and kde-3.5.0. As for Joel Feiner it seems to \
only happen when there are smileys on the same page. e. g. when you write a post on \
forums.gentoo.org. It doesn't matter whether I use the builtin keyboard or an \
external hid device.  I can also confirm that this doesn't happen with firefox.

This bug should definitly be reopened.
