Summary: web shortcuts should support url unpacking and regex
           Product: konqueror
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: konq-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: cartel.kde cryptocracy hn org

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

it would be nice if the web shortcut syntax were able to support url unpacking \
instead of just parsing arguments and queries. for example, consider the Coral \
content distribution network.

A web shortcut of

coral://www.google.com/linux

rewriting to

http://www.google.com.nyud.net:8090/linux

makes a lot of sense. but this is not doable since we cannot unpack urls.

With url unpacking, and i am using as inspiration the python urlunpack function, the \
web shortcut declaration for coral could look like:

http://\{netloc}.nyud.net:8090/\{path};\{params}?\{query}#\{fragment}

allowing regex transforms would also add a lot of power, as would the ability to call \
an external script to resolve the web shortcut's passed url/keywords to a valid \
http:// url. _______________________________________________
