I attempted to resolve the problem by creating a new user and then running konqueror \
under that new user. It did not resolve the problem.

One thing which occurred to me is that perhaps what is happening is the delay is due \
to some error log being created. I remember there was some way to disable these \
outputs for various KDE apps, but can't seem to recall what it was.

Pardon my ignorance...
