           Summary: smb overwrite support flaky
           Product: konqueror
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: konq-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: david dw-perspective org uk

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Compiler: n/a
OS: Linux

When using the smb:/ protocol (smb ioslave), over-writing files is a very dodgy \
operation, which often fails.

This occurs with both KDE 3.1.4 and 3.2.0, and with Samba servers running 2.2.8a and \
3.0.2a.

I used to be using KDE 3.1.4/Samba 2.2.8a; Samba got upgraded, then KDE, but the \
problem is still there. Basically when opening an existing file for editing, then \
saving, the save dialogue normally gets to 100% then freezes. Looking at the server, \
there will now be a zero-size file where previously there was the original file. Data \
loss! Normally I'm editing text files in Kate or KWrite.

The share isn't unusual at all in Samba.
