Summary: F8 key should show hidden files in Konqueror (usability)
           Product: konqueror
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: konq-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: dominic enkasa com

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
OS: Linux

The F8 key allows, and is the easiest way, to view hidden files from within the KDE \
file dialog. Since it becomes so natural to press this key if you work with hidden \
files a lot, and since Konqueror in file mode feels very similar to the File dialog, \
it always instinctively feels as though it would work from Konqueror.

I have tried to do this so many times -- before I remember that I am not in a file \
dialog -- that I have now changed the mapping myself, and now everything is \
wonderful!

But I think that having it as a default would be good from a usability perspective, \
since it would promote consistency. The key is currently mapped to "move files to \
..." so this may be a problem if people use that feature -- I never do so I wouldn't \
know.

This is where Aaron's idea of collecting usability statistics would be very useful!
