Summary: Krusader (Norton Commander Clone) abandoned? (Missing on
Knoppix 3.1)
Product: konqueror
Version: unspecified
Platform: SuSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: konq-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: gnor@x-mail.net
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Dear Developers!
This may be a Knoppix peculiarity, but it could also a result from
switching to KDE 3.x.
Krusader was advertised prominently on KDE 2.x on the SuSE 7.1 Live
Eval.
Especially paranoid people would appreciate a Norton-ish file manager
with an unintegrated Mozilla or Opera over Konqueror.
MSIE has ruined completely the concept of blurring the boundary between
local and remote resources by giving the equivalent of shell access to
anybody who could write J(ava)Script/VBScript and connect to an ActiveX
object from these languages. This blows away any security scheme you
may conjure up since Registry access is straightforward and that is the
SPOF of Windows.
So any "unifying" interface will scare away any Windows user that may
abandon this madly spying OS for something better controllable like
Linux or a BSD.
Kind regards
Norbert Grün (gnor@x-mail.net)
