I have exactly the same problem with my system which is a stock standard
Mandrake 9 install, (using KDE 3.0.3, I believe).  I narrowed the problem down
to being my floppy drive.  I do not have one installed and when I removed the
reference to it in my fstab and mtab (and rebooted) the problem went away.  I
assume there was some problem with supermount trying to mount the directories???

Nautilus could see the /mnt directory fine, as could the console, only konqueror
would hang (before I removed the entries).
