Package: konqueror
Version: KDE 3.0.3
Severity: crash
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: Pre Compiled RPM's
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: SuSE Linux 7.2

Basically, I have two computers running SuSE Linux 7.2, both are Pentium 3's. After \
upgrading to KDE 3.0.3, including Konqueror, I started having problems with the FTP \
area of Konqueror. Basically, One computer is a test Web server, and I use FTP to \
transfer my files to and from each computer. Lately, when I try to transfer a file \
via FTP from my main computer, to the test web server, my main computer will \
completely lock up. I'm not just talking about Konqueror crashing. I'm talking \
about the entire system coming down. It happens with random files, and random times. \
Some files will transfer fine, and others will just crash the system. The bug \
doesn't seem to differentiate between particular file types. I dont know if this has \
anything to do with it, but I am using the Reiserfs file system on both computers.

The exact action that I am taking is opening up my local file system, with Konqueror, \
and then opening up another window via ftp, like ftp://username@IP-Address/. It asks \
for my password, and then I login. Then I will highlight the files that I want to \
transfer, and then hold down the Control key, and start to do a drag and drop \
operation. It will copy maybe two or three files, then the system hangs, and I have \
to do a cold reset. This has happened many times in a row, and I tried doing it \
different ways, such as right clicking and copy/paste, to and from each window. It \
seems that nothing works different. Unfortunately I can't provide a back trace. I'm \
pretty new to Linux, and the KDE, and I have only been downloading RPM's from SuSE's \
web site, and then installing. I can never get source code to compile. I'm \
learning...:)

Another idea, is that maybe it's the KIO module. Just a thought...

If you need more info, please e-mail me back...

PEACE
