Subject: Bug#36592: Scrolling incorrectly updates screen (chops off bits)

Package: khtml
Version: KDE 2.9.1
Severity: normal
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Dual P2-400
This is a longlasting bug that I've encountered in all KDE versions so far:
During the scrolling of certain applications (I file this report for KHTML because \
that's one of them) the screen is incorrectly updated regularly. I'll try to draw a \
pattern below that explains how the rendered screen looks:
While it should look like this:
texttexteblablablatexttexteblablabla
texttexteblablablatexttexteblablabla
texttexteblablablatexttexteblablabla
texttexteblablablatexttexteblablabla
A triangular form is cut out from the left of the screen:
xttexteblablablatexttexteblablabla
blablablatexttexteblablabla
ablatexttexteblablabla
xteblablabla
The triangular shape is filled with the background color of the regular text, so it \
appears that the refreshing process is not working properly.
This happens often (say twice every minute) when I use KHTML intensely. It does seem \
font-related, since I haven't experienced it with images or widgets. I haven't heard \
from anyone else that he/she had this problem, so maybe it's my machine:
Mandrake 8.1 clean install
KDE 1, 2 or 3beta
Dual P2-400
Intel i740 graphics card
I haven't tried to make a screendump of it, but I can do so on request, so just mail \
me.
Regards,
Jeroen
