Why not building 2.2.4 SUSE packages on your own box. Use the spec file from 
SUSE 2.2.3 then the packages should build.
I am not as SUSE user, but they probably have a build environment you need to 
install and then it should be a piece of cake.
At least it is in Mandriva.
