I think compatibility would be great.
But please note that the Z-Push backend currently relies on the Kolab format
interpretation in the Horde 3 framework, which is Kolab 2 only.
Syncroton is based upon the libkolab / libkolabxml work that supports the new
storage format for Kolab 3.0 as well as the old Kolab 2.0 format, which is
also used by the Roundcube web frontend now - so there is no more need for the
Horde 3 framework, which won't be part of Kolab 3.0.
Instead the remaining functions the framework delivered, e.g. free/busy or
resource handling, are now reimplemented as standalone components on top of
libkolab / libkolabxml themselves.
So compatibility would have to be sought by modifying the Z-Push backend to
make use of the same libkolab / libkolabxml bindings and perhaps some of the
Roundcube IMAP handling libraries & frameworks (which I know you wanted to use
anyhow because they are much faster than those in Horde).
Since Alec is one of the principal Roundcube developers, I am sure he can
point you in the right direction for this and will be happy to work with you
to ensure that the backends can share as much work as possible.
Best regards,
Georg
