Especially when the option to choose between list and icon view is implemented, it works for beginners as well as for advances users who can easily identify the shapes by their icons. And I agree that adding shapes is one of two tasks a user does most when creating diagrams. The other is connecting them. For the ability to add custom shapes from the canvas, I find Visios implementation of it (yes, they occasionally do good UIs as well ;) ) quite useful: It lets you just drag things from the canvas to the shape collection and automatically creates a shape from them. > And I also like that you have not gone for a ZUI which has loads of > usabillity problems.
