Well, the fact is, you removed a copyright line without asking. 

How about next time asking before doing that? Just write a friendly mail
pointing out that have removed not just all the code, but also all the
ideas from that copyright holder? It might be a good idea to be nice,
communicative and considerate even if there's technically no need for it.
