Hello again, I thought I could give an update to this thread. Today I have been talking some to David aka Welsh_Dwarf and also downloaded and compiled Kivio from the trunk and compared it some to the old 1.6 version. It would be interesting to talk some more about what the different tasks mean more specificity.

Stencil format support, is the thought that stencils from 1.6 should be available or what does that really mean?
Writing document load/save support (using odg), I know I did save a file, but now the program will not start so I can't really test but maybe that was just a "dummy save"?
Links between elements, the thing that separates this from bare lines is that they follow if you move an element? Or they should have some other "smart" feature?

Hi, I was one of the developers who showed up at the meeting. From the minutes
we'd decided on  x main features that were necessary before a release could
take place:
-Stencil format support (loading from existing catalogues).
-Writing document load/save support (using odg as a base).
-Creating links between elements
-Text on shape support (this is probably the most complicated task, especially
since Kivio will need multi-text-per-shape eg for UML classes)
-Document format supports (infinite canvas vs page format).

The idea is/was to have kivio back into koffice for 2.3 which is planned
tentatively for October.

That is, unfortunately, where things ended more or less.

I've been mostly MIA although I have started some research/hacking on the
stencil shape + load and save support, and apart from a quick ping from Yue, I
haven't heard anything from anyone else either.

So, everything is still pretty much open.

You can mail me if you want to chat, I'll also be on IRC today up until 18h00
EST.
