Yes - very neat (I was unaware of the shift modifier when I originally 
posted).  The spin box is fine for adjusting strength also.  

Although I think the concept of "strength" is a little more abstract than the 
current (unlabeled) "pixel proximity" ultimately users are just going to tweak 
it until it feels comfortable.  The main thing is that there is some control 
and that its purpose is clear.
