The solution which I am pretty sure the majority will agree with is this;
* KOffice is plugin based, having a plugin that can do a table is awesome! 
Especially if it requires minimal to no code in KWord (kotext).

* We (Well, at least I) want to have a QTextTable based table system in the 
text shape. The main reason is that its the only thing that scales up and 
will give us the user experience people expect. 
The fact that I want this does not mean everyone should stop putting effort 
into alternate solutions.

So, I think your concerns is good, but sounds a bit too negative. I know you 
don't mean it negatively, so I'll be sure to counter your mail with giving my 
full support to Stefan :)
