I kind of didn't look at this code very much for some time since the way I 
handle keyevents makes it impossible to do X-compose. So I can't type a ë 
for instance, at least not with the compose - " - e sequence.

But this fix looks good.  Thanks.

You don't have commit rights, right? I'll commit it later.
