I remember finding this problem just prior to 1.4.n; which means its a 
known problem for a little while now.
Hmm; perhaps we should really introduce the concept of showstoppers :(

Something like making a bug a really high priority and all 'vhi' bugs have 
to be fixed before the release.  This obviously only works if just a 
handfull of bugs are marked as 'vhi'
