This was not actually a bug in 1.4.2, was it?  I can't imagine that the 
3th version of the 1.4 series was crashing on such a core component. 
Especially considering that an earlier review of the same software gave 
KSpread really high marks for its excellent charting functions.

Sounds like a good letter to write to the editor, that another reviewer 
managed to do what this reviewer apparently failed, to get this stuff 
running normally...

A bit sad that KOffice gets to suffer over this...
